Samaritan House PR Porject

Working on the Samaritan House PR campaign pushed me to think carefully about how to communicate a difficult topic in a way that still felt accessible and empowering. Teen dating violence is a sensitive issue, and finding the right tone required intention. I wanted our messaging to be honest and respectful without overwhelming the young audiences we hoped to reach.

Throughout the semester, I contributed creative assets, helped explore AI-assisted strategy options, and stayed vocal about what was realistic to achieve—especially after recognizing how limited the existing coverage was of teens openly discussing dating violence. I brought this up consistently because it shaped our direction. Instead of forcing our campaign to depend on material that didn’t exist, our team made the decision to create the content ourselves, developing messaging, visuals, and resources designed specifically for the audiences we identified.

Navigating such a tough subject also made the reflection process challenging. Balancing sensitivity with approachability took work, but staying grounded in our audiences kept the campaign focused. The groups we outlined in our presentation and final submission guided every decision we made, from tone to tactics.

Overall, this project helped me grow as both a communicator and strategist. It taught me how to handle sensitive topics thoughtfully, adapt messaging for youth-centered audiences, and collaborate on a campaign where accuracy, respect, and creativity all mattered equally.
